Public clouds allow users to easily add or drop capacity, and are typically accessible from any Internet-connected device. The problems with a public cloud is that it can be unreliable which means that it can have outages and you might not be able to access your files and documents. It also has less security that private clouds and this could mean disputes about who owns what data. They are more susceptible to hacks and malware. Some public cloud providers also reserve the right to shift data around from one region to another without notifying the user -– which may cause issues. So the easy of use comes with a cost.
