Wake Up the Right Way
Our morning routine is so engrained that we go through it without ever thinking twice or considering changing it. There are a couple things that we can do in order to make it better though. First of all, what does your alarm sound like? If you set it to the most annoying tone, you might want to reconsider. You do not want your first feeling of the day to be irritation so set your favorite song as the alarm. Also, if you are waking up, wake up for good without hitting the snooze button because it will throw off your entire cycle. Once you are out of bed, do not skip breakfast. A healthy breakfast will keep you focused and running a lot longer than a cup of coffee will. Take some time in the morning to meditate or exercise. There are even amazing mobile applications just for that. This will “reset” your brain and allow you to better focus on your work when it’s time to actually start. Routines take consistency, discipline and time to change effectively so give it time and energy and you will reap the benefits.

Be in the Here and Now
The past is in the past and that's where it needs to remain. There is no value in regret, guilt or shame. Acknowledge that whatever happened is over and lear from it. Reliving past events and beating yourself up does nothing but bring those problems into the present, keeping the energy of them alive. Do not let the past rule your present in any way. Similarly, if you believe your best times were in the past, you need to let that belief go. Really practice being present to whatever you're doing. The easiest way to feel present is practicing meditation, but it's not the only path to presence. There are many different mobile applications to help with it. The bottom line is to be aware of what your body is doing whether you are just relaxing or running. Once you have the presence down pat, you can really start following your gut. It is important to be in tune with your intuition because it is part of you and comes from you being yourself. All it really takes are small step each day to choose to be happy and present.
