Biometric Scanners in the Palm of Your Hand

The smartphone's touch screen can do so many wonderful things. What if we made it into a biometric scanner? The uses and software development here can be endless. For one thing, the screen can be used to scan things such as ears in order to unlock the phone. Everyone has a distinct ear shape so it can be as good as a fingerprint. The fingerprint scanners can actually increase the price of the smartphones but even the lower end ones have great touch screens that can be used for this purpose. Bodyprint compensates for the low input resolution with an increased false rejection rate, but does not compromise on authentication precision. The technology could also be use in the medical field and with certain health mobile applications. Putting all that data in a cloud service, we will be able to see an even bigger picture.
